For the pastry crust:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs

Add the cream filling:

  • 1 cup of whipped cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

You can add nuts like almonds, coconut, or chocolate chips to the cream filling to increase the variety and flavor of the cake. 

How to make Cream Puff


Once you have all the ingredients ready, follow these simple steps to make Cream Puffs:

  1. Heat the water, butter, and salt in a small saucepan until the butter melts.

  2. Turn off the heat. Add the flour and stir until the dough comes together and does not stick to the pan.

  3. Add the eggs one by one, mixing well each time, until the dough is smooth and thick.

  4. Use a piping bag or spoon to place the dough onto a greased baking tray, leaving about 5 cm between each puff.

  5. Bake at 200°C for 15 minutes, then lower the temperature to 180°C and bake for another 20 minutes until golden brown.

  6. Let the puffs cool, then cut them in half.

  7. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until thick.

  8. Pipe the cream into the bottom half of each puff.

  9. Place the top half back on and enjoy your Cream Puffs!

The secret to light and crispy Cream Puffs


Getting Cream Puffs that are light inside and crispy outside is very important. Here are some simple tips to help you:

Cook the flour until it is not sticky

When making the dough, cook the flour until it no longer sticks to the pan. Do not cook it for too long, or the crust may turn soft instead of crispy.

Add the eggs slowly

Add the eggs one at a time and mix well each time. This helps the dough become smooth and the right thickness.

Let the puffs cool in the oven

After baking, leave the Cream Puffs in the oven for about 5–10 minutes with the door slightly open. This helps them cool slowly and stay crispy. If you take them out right away, they may become soft.
